TOURISM IN CHITRAL

Chitral is known to be one of the beautiful valleys of Pakistan. It is really a paradise of the Hindukush with plenty of streams, rivers and beautiful waterfalls. Every year a large number of visitors/tourists come here from inside as well as outside the country and enjoy its charm and beauty in different seasons.
Chitral is a source of attraction for all kind of tourists, but the 9/11 insident also did a great harm to the tourism sector as people throughout the world have become very concisous about their security and safety. Govt: of Pakistan is taking remedial steps in order to facilitate the tourists and to provide security to the foreign guests.
Chitral is surrounded by loftly mounatins, so during winters it likes a cul de sac. Due to harsh winters and closure of almost all the passes and only option for the valley dwellers for travelling to the southern and warmer parts is to take a flight what by contrast is subject to the weather. Any assessment about Chitral is incomplete without acquiring information about some of the beautiful valleys of Chitral.
Chitral Town:
As a matter of fact it is a walkers town from the main bazaar 1/2 hrs walk to chewodok (mound of king), on governor cottage road enroute for summer palace (former rulers summer palace) one can have some spectacular view of Terichmir 7778 meter (the castle of Fairies), highest peak in Hindukush, and ovie pass 4550 meter on the left and Chitral town on the right. Another 1/2 hour walk will take you to Khorkushandeh on officer mess road, wherefrom twin peaks of jughoor gole, beautivul mountains ofAyun in the east are the most famous photo points.
Chitral according to western tourists and trekkers is still pretty unspoilt and there are innumerable things to discover, on the other hand mountains and treks offer challenge and adventure to those who dare.
In addition Chitral fort is the most famous monuments of the town what is located by the river Chitral what once was unde siege in 1895 and there is a historical shahi mosque located on the left side of the fort what was completed in 1924.
All the foreign tourists are advised to register as soon as they arrive in Chitral town at Polic Office.
PLACES TO VISIT:








Birmogh Lasht (Summer Palace, Chitral Gole National Park).
There are the remains of a castle or summer palce of the former rulers and with the passage of time when the conservation strategies in the area started it gave genesis to Chitral National park because of the presence of the rare species of the snow leopard, Markopolo Sheep and Ibex. Summer palace nowadays a multipurpose point likewise a campsite, Hitorical site and having breathtaking view it has become pretty famous among the trekkers and foreign visitors. It also has an adventurous trek known as Chitral National Park trek what takes 4 to 6 das and descends to Rumboor valley.
2 hour jeep drive will enable you to get to this pint and see the nature in its true shape.
Injigan Valley (Garam Chashma Hot Springs).
Located in the north west of Chitral at the distance of 45 km or 2 hrs jeep drive going across marble and granite canyyons one of the most beautiful jeep safaris in the are of Chitral along the river on the right what is abundant in Trout fish, a permit is issued on reuest by the fisheries department in Chitral for fishing.
An area with spectacular landscape, fresh waters, lofty mountains, green fields. The natives are warm welcoming and very friendly. Some nice walks could be taken in the area to Monoor and beghust located on the top of Garam Chashma with their nice views lush green location.
Oveer Valley.
accessible through 3 hrs jeep drive from Chtral town enroute for Mestuj nicely located valley with its unspoilt villagers of Parpish, Reri, Baroom and Shahbronze.
A famous point, in past, among the climbers due to adventurous Terichmir 7778m, nowadays a paradise for the trekkers because of its base camp Shokhoorshal 2400 m 1st camp, Ochanjhogh 3600 m 2nd cap with their prominent North and South Baroom glaciers.
Pretty attractive to the trekkers and photographers coz o its breath taking view of the lofty and snow covered peaks in Hindukush.
Kalash Valleys.
These valleys comprise of the valleys of Rumboor, Bamborate, Birir, located in the south west of Chitral accessible through 2 hrs jeep drive through Ayun from Chitral town.
These three valley are the homes of the Kafir Kalash tribe having a very ancient culture with unique dresses and festivals which are one of the prominent source of attraction for the local as well as foreign tourists/visitors. These valleys also contain very beautiful trekkings for trekkers. i.e Gangalwat, Kundayak etc.
